Early diabetes symptoms, especially type 2 diabetes, can be subtle or seemingly harmless – if you have them at all. You could have diabetes for months, or even years, and not have any symptoms. In other cases, some may lapse into a diabetic coma until the blood sugars are under control.


In the United States, nearly 6 million people have undiagnosed diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association. In the Rio Grande Valley alone, over 25% of the population has diabetes! Of those 25% who have diabetes, the first symptom will be a retinal hemorrhage 25% of the time! By that time, serious damage has not only occurred in the eyes but also elsewhere in the body. But you do not have to be a statistic. Understanding the symptoms of diabetes can lead to early diagnosis and treatment – and a lifetime of better health.
